Carta da União Americana para Ntswane da África contando sobre a união de Kozel, Muller e Ringelberg
Peace and grace from the Lord:
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; they shall prosper palaces. For my brethren and companions sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.” Psalms 133:1; 122:6-9.
Words are inadequate to describe the joy and thankfulness that rills our souls, as we pen these lines. Tears of happiness have now taken the place of tears of despondency and deep soul-anguish. For nearly five long years the cause of God was plunged into misunderstandings, brotherly animosity, and confusion everywhere. Separations and dissolution brought dear believers to the very verge of despair. Day after day our aching hearts cried to heaven to intervene in behalf of his suffering flock. Our patience was severely tested, but not to the point of lceing hope altogether. Praise be to god, who heareth prayer!
For little over a year matters happened in quick succession. Our last appeal for peace was made in Holland last year, but was denied. It seemed then that our hopes were completely shattered of ever re-uniting again. With a sad heart we felt compelled to form an International Committee to look after the interest of the outcasts of Israel. The blessings of God attended this move, for souls in their perplexity gathered new hope everywhere and rallied their strength. The work began to build up, in spite of all hinderances. It was at that time also (a year ago) that the evil one influenced those, that willingly listened to him, to withdraw from the former body of Reformers and set up their own work under the caption of a “Reform within the Reform”, whish appellation seems to be quite the opposite of what we have actually seen so far of their activities, for true Reform has nothing in common with misrepresentations, exaggerations, twisted propaganda, and unwarranted, dishonest liberties.
For the last several months the drift of events took a different course. Well aware of the fact that the sending to America in 1948 of a man, who proved to be a disconcerted, self-reliant, and ruth legg leader, was uncalled for, and a sad mistake on the part of brethren Kozel and Mueller, these brethren of the old General Conference felt it their duty of late to acknowledge this fact in all sincerity before the American Union brethren. Our confidence in their eagerness to redeem the past was greatly strengthened by the news of their withdrawal of the court action against Nicolici, who in his dishonest liberties had taken the properties, belonging to the established General Conference.
Shortly before our Mid-West-Conference in America this year, we were made very happy to meet the three most responsible men of the old General Conference, brethren Mueller, Kozel, and Ringelberg, with some of their relatives. From the very beginning it was seen that the former spirit of supremacy had completely vanished. Deep humility had taken its place. The love for one another, which had grown cold through grave once convened, these brethren visited Bro. Kramer and Bro. Otto Welp, and then proceeded in their journey to Denver, where they had many heart-to-heart talks with our/dear Brethren Doerschler and Stabel. The way was opened to bring about a union, which decision was to be made by the American Union Committee and the assembled Conference. What a great delight it was to see an overall total of over 110 dear souls, adults and children, assemble in the Rocky Mountains, near Denver, Colorado. After deliberating for quite a length of time before the Committee, and after earnest and tearful prayers and confessions and forgiving of sins, we embraced each other as brethren in Christ Jesus again, and were happy beyond description. The following declaration was then drawn up and signed:
June 6, 1952
“Mutual Declaration”
“At the occasion of the meeting of the majority of the General Conference Committee with the Committee of the American Union, during the Mid-West-Conference, Railey, Colorado, June 4-8, 1952 in the United States, the disrupted harmony and connection was with God’s help again restored.
“Both parties confessed and repented of their shortcomings Everything shall henceforth be forgiven and forgotten. Closest harmony and complete co-operation shall mark the future course of this newly , created Union between the old American Union (chartered 1927) and the General Conference in the American Union acknowledges today, as before, the principles of faith of this Reform Movement, which the Lord brought into life in 1914. Because of the present experiences and in the interest of the advancement of the cause, we agreed to call for a General Conference Meeting as soon as possible, the American Union places her international and official connections into the hands of the leading General Conference Committee.
All circular and explanatory writings, originating and sent out by both sides, are herewith declared as nullified, their place shall be filled by a cordial agreement and a brotherly co-operation in Christ. All of our view in future as well as all our efforts shall be directed to the saving of souls. In this manner we shall receive the fullness of the Lord’s blessing; knowing the coming of the Lord to be very near.
In the name of the General Conference: C. Kozel, A. Muller, Ringelberg.
In the name of the America Union: (signed) E. J. Stabel, A. W. Doerschler, O. Kramer, A. Pfaff, W. Stabel, A. B. Kestler, P. Newell.
It was further agreed that old Bro. Welp become an honorable member of the General Conference Committee, and that’s Bro. Doerschler become Another member to represent the American Union.
It may be rather human, after the sad experiences we had with these brethren in the cast, to question their sincerity. But we have seen the fruits of true repentance in such marked manner that it leaves us not a trace of doubt as to their earnestness and change of heart. They hays met out conditions for unity to the full and it would have been very unchristian and rude to have met them with an unforgiving spirit. We did that our Lord and Master would have done in our place. The results are now resting with God, who maketh all things well. With joy we return to the vineyard of labor for dear souls, laying our hands to the placing not looking back to the past. A new chapter in this Reform has opened. Unity has become the winged word, and with unity comes new strength and power from the Almighty. Zion is rising with the shout of triumph over all its adversaries. Is God for us, who can be against us?
This, dear Bro. Ntswane, is the report of what has happened at our last Conference. It gives reason to rejoice for all true children of God.
Your last letters came to hand, also the one with the snap-shots. Thank you very much for all your valuable information. Since we have united internationally with the General Conference again, we have placed the International Committee Affairs into the hands of the Gen. Conf. Committee. Dear Bro. Ringelberg, who is the Secretary, will receive all your communications from now on and answer them. We will send him your letters. In a very short time, we understand, he will come to Africa and visit you. We have learned to love this dear brother, and we hope that you will continue to be printed and distributed from the United States and the Sacramento, California Address. No doubt, much of the correspondence will still come from here and we will remain in constant tough with you, dear ones. We were so glad to hear of your good success in different parts of the field, and we are constantly praying that the Lord may fill you with more and more heavenly zeal to press the battle to the gates.
In closing, dear Brother, give to our dear believers there our warmest regards and Christian felicitations. Read them this letter and ask for their prayers for us, which we will also do for them.
In the love of the Master, your Brethren in His Service.
